About Mortgages
The mortgage industry is very competitive and marketing is certainly aggressive. Below is a link to some reliable information from the Mortgage Bankers Association without the normal sales pitches. Here is some very general advice I give to my clients based upon my experience:
* It is really OK to shop for a loan, as you may save a lot of money, but do it early - not 30 days before closing.
* Get a loan pre-approval letter not just a pre-qualification letter. It does not obligate you and improves your bargaining position when making an offer.
* Choose a lender that will physically be there at the closing table for you. Things sometimes change, and you need to be able to look your lender in the eye. Be very leery of Internet only lenders.
* Meet with your loan officer or counselor in person when choosing a loan. Trust is important with this large transaction.|
* Involve your Real Estate agent early with your loan process. Making the purchase should be a team process.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions or to discuss mortgages.
